About

South Fork Camps is a dispersed camping area located at the scenic confluence of the South Fork Chetco with the main stem of the Wild and Scenic Chetco River in the Gold Beach Ranger District. The crystal-clear waters of the Chetco River provide excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, and wildlife viewing during the summer months. The area consists of two distinct camping zones. Upper South Fork Camp offers a more secluded setting along the South Fork Chetco River, ideal for those seeking solitude. Lower South Fork Camp provides a larger open area with direct access to both the South Fork and main stem of the Chetco River. This is primitive dispersed camping with minimal amenities. A portable toilet is provided, but there are no picnic tables, fire pits, drinking water, or garbage service. Campers must pack out all trash and bring their own water supply. The area accommodates tents and small trailers only.
