About

South Fork Camps is a dispersed camping area located at the confluence of South Fork Chetco River with the main stem of the Wild and Scenic Chetco River. The site is divided into two areas: Upper South Fork Camp provides a more secluded location along the South Fork Chetco River, while Lower South Fork Camp offers a larger camping area with access to both the South Fork and main stem Chetco River. Visitors can enjoy summer fun in the crystal-clear waters of this outstanding river, known for its striking clarity and purity. This primitive camping area accommodates tents and small trailers, with visitors able to camp where they want within the designated area. The site provides portable toilets but lacks developed amenities such as picnic tables, fire pits, drinking water, or garbage disposal. Campers must pack out all trash. The area is popular for fishing, swimming, day hiking, and wildlife viewing. Access is via Forest Road 1376, approximately 8 miles from the Forest boundary along North Bank Chetco River Road from Brookings.
