About

Limekiln Lake Campground is a well-established DEC facility located in the heart of the Adirondack Park in Hamilton County, New York. The 271 campsites are spread along the shores of 463-acre Limekiln Lake, offering both tent camping and trailer accommodations with equipment length limits varying by site from 15 to 40 feet. The campground features modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, a bathhouse, potable water spigots, and a trailer dump station. The lake itself is a major draw, with a sandy swimming beach, small boat launch, and canoe/kayak rentals available on-site. Motorboats are permitted. Fishing is popular with yellow perch, bullhead, bluegill, and splake present in the lake. The Old Dam Nature Trail offers a 1.6-mile loop hike, and the campground provides access to the Moose River Plains Wild Forest for more extensive backcountry exploration. Black bears are active throughout the area and food lockers (bear boxes) are provided at campsites. Firewood and ice are sold at the campground. A picnic area with tables, fireplaces, and a pavilion is available for day use. There are no electrical hookups, WiFi, or camp store.
