About

Forked Lake Campground offers a true Adirondack wilderness experience on the east shore of 1,248-acre Forked Lake. This remote campground features 80 campsites that provide excellent privacy, with most accessible only by boat or hiking trail. Only three sites can accommodate RVs up to 20 feet. The campground is surrounded by the Sargent Ponds Wild Forest and offers direct access to extensive trail systems, including the popular Owls Head Mountain Trail and Fire Tower. The lake welcomes motorboats, canoes, and kayaks, with boat and canoe rentals available on-site. The gravel boat launch is best suited for small boats and car-top watercraft. Anglers will find excellent fishing opportunities for brook trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, bullhead, yellow perch, and occasional brown trout. Each campsite includes a picnic table, stone fireplace, and bear-proof storage box. The campground is known for high bear activity, and campers must store all food in the provided bear boxes or bear-proof containers. The remote location and comprehensive planning make this one of the premier wilderness camping destinations in the Adirondacks, offering solitude and natural beauty in a well-managed setting.
