About
Located on the shore of the beautiful 5,935-acre Raquette Lake, Golden Beach Campground offers 205 tent and trailer sites in a remote Central Adirondack setting. The large, well-forested campsites provide privacy and a relaxing, quiet beauty. The campground features one of the largest natural beaches in the area with a swimming area and bathhouse. Boating opportunities abound with 99 miles of shoreline to explore, offering views of historic Adirondack Great Camps. The shallow boat launch accommodates small boats, cartop boats, and canoes. Anglers can target lake trout, brook trout, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and other species. Just across Route 28 lies the 47,000-acre Blue Ridge Wilderness with several hiking opportunities. The Slim Pond trailhead is less than one mile north on Route 28, while Death Brook Falls and Shedd Lake trailheads are to the south. The campground offers modern amenities including flush toilets, hot showers, a trailer dump station, and firewood and ice sales. The facility was developed beginning in 1929 and opened to the public in 1931, with much of the continued development accomplished by the Civilian Conservation Corps during 1933-1942.
