About

Eisenhower State Park sits on the north shore of Melvern Lake, a 6,930-acre U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir in the Flint Hills region of eastern Kansas. The park's 1,785 acres feature 1,000 acres of tallgrass prairie and 440 acres of woodland, providing diverse habitat for wildlife viewing and hunting in the adjacent wildlife area. Camping options span the spectrum from primitive tent sites at Five-Star and the swim beaches to full-hookup RV pads with water, electric, and sewer. The upper loop of Westpoint Campground hosts 15 equestrian sites with individual corrals and access to 22 miles of horseback trails on the lake's south side. Five shower houses with restrooms and laundry facilities at Doud Campground serve the various camping areas. Ike's General Store at Doud Campground sells firewood, ice, and supplies. The park offers kayak, canoe, and dock rentals on the lake, plus an 18-hole disc golf course, archery trail, playgrounds, and a half-mile accessible nature trail. Melvern Lake supports walleye, crappie, and catfish fishing, with marina services nearby.
