About

Turkey Point Campground is situated on Melvern Lake on the eastern edge of the Flint Hills of Kansas, where America's last expanse of intact tallgrass prairie meets wooded rolling hills. The campground offers 43 family campsites spread throughout scattered trees providing shade, with many sites featuring 50-amp electric service and water hookups. Facilities include flush and vault toilets, hot showers, potable drinking water, and an RV dump station. Melvern Lake impounds nearly 7,000 acres of water on the upper Marais des Cygnes River Valley, making it ideal for boating, swimming, and fishing. Anglers target walleye, crappie, channel and flathead catfish, as well as black, striped, white, and smallmouth bass. A boat ramp, dock, and fish cleaning station serve water recreation needs. Three playgrounds and a 1-mile trail connecting the campground to the day-use area round out the amenities. The surrounding 18,000 acres of public land provide hunting opportunities for deer, quail, turkey, ducks, rabbits, and squirrels. Group camping is also available, including a large site with 12 pads featuring 50-amp electric and water service.
