Outlet Campground is a well-developed U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located below Melvern Lake Dam in Osage County, Kansas. Situated on the eastern edge of the Flint Hills, the campground provides access to 7,000 acres of water and 18,000 acres of surrounding public land. The 140 family campsites are spread across three loops (A, B, and C), with many sites offering full hookups including 50-amp electric, water, and sewer. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 60 feet, with both pull-through and back-in options available. The campground is well-equipped with flush and vault toilets, hot showers, potable drinking water, and a dump station. Note that B-loop sites lack fire rings, though campers may bring elevated fire pits. The laundry facilities are permanently closed. On-site recreation includes a boat ramp with accessible dock, fish cleaning station, swimming beach, playground, and a stocked fishing pond open year-round. Melvern Lake offers excellent fishing for walleye, crappie, channel and flathead catfish, and various bass species. The 4-mile Tallgrass Heritage Trail starts from the campground and winds through the last intact expanse of tallgrass prairie in America. Hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, quail, and waterfowl are available on the surrounding public lands.

Directions

From US-75, take the Melvern exit. Turn west onto Melvern Lake Parkway and continue 1/4 mile to the cut-off road, then another 1/4-mile west to River Pond Parkway and follow into the campground.
