About

Michigan Valley Campground is located in eastern Kansas on the shores of Pomona Lake, a 4,000-acre reservoir situated among rolling hills, mixed grasslands, croplands, and forests. The scenic, heavily shaded park appeals to family campers, sportsmen, and water sport enthusiasts. The lake offers excellent fishing opportunities for crappie, walleye, and channel catfish, while wildlife viewing includes bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese, and wild turkey. The campground provides approximately 76 campsites, with 52 offering electrical and water hookups and additional primitive sites available. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities include showers, restrooms, and sanitary dump stations. Three nearby trails meander around Pomona Lake: Deer Creek Nature Trail and Witches' Broom Trail offer short hiking options, while the Black Hawk Trail provides a 33-mile loop popular for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Michigan Valley is the largest campground at Pomona Lake. The town of Lyndon, Kansas is located 20 minutes away and features 22 historical sites and the smallest Carnegie library still in use.
