About

Wolf Creek Campground is located on the north side of Pomona Lake, a 4,000-acre reservoir managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in eastern Kansas. The heavily shaded park sits among rolling hills, mixed grasslands, and forests in the Osage Cuestas region, offering a secluded setting for family campers, sportsmen, and water sports enthusiasts. The campground features 44 sites with utilities and 43 primitive sites. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. The park offers showers, vault toilets, picnic shelters, and a dump station. Pomona Lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities, with crappie, walleye, bass, and channel catfish being the primary species. The lake's calm waters are ideal for boating, water skiing, and swimming. Several trails meander around Pomona Lake, including the nearby Deer Creek Nature Trail and Witches' Broom Trail for hikers, and the 33-mile Black Hawk Trail loop for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Wildlife viewing is abundant, with bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese, and wild turkey commonly observed. The small town of Lyndon, Kansas, located less than 10 miles away, features 22 historical sites and the smallest Carnegie library still in use.
