Temperatures will quickly drop below freezing this afternoon and evening. This will lead to any untreated surfaces quickly freezing. Sacttered snow showers could quickly coat roads. Use caution if driving or walking. Increasing winds this afternoon and evening could cause isolated power outages due to lingering ice loading on trees and powerlines. Wind chills below zero tonight will affect anyone still without power or outside.

Putnam Pond Campground sits at the edge of the 46,283-acre Pharaoh Lake Wilderness Area in the East-Central Adirondacks, making it a key starting point for hikers exploring over 60 miles of trails. Located six miles west of Ticonderoga off Route 74, the campground offers 72 campsites with 63 in the developed area and 9 remote boat-in sites on islands. The developed sites are large, private, and well-forested, accommodating everything from tents to 30-foot RVs. The campground provides full amenities including hot showers, flush toilets, a trailer dump station, recycling center, and sales of firewood and ice. A boat launch on Putnam Pond allows motorized boats, and canoe, rowboat, and kayak rentals are available. Anglers can fish for smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike. The famous 12-mile Long Swing Trail begins at the campground, passing through Grizzle Ocean, Pharaoh Lake, Glidden Marsh, Crane Pond, and Alder Pond before ending near Paradox Lake. The remote sites are primitive with outhouse access but no water or bear boxes, accessible by boat or hiking from the boat launch parking area.
Directions
From I-87, take Exit 28, then east on Route 74 for approximately 12 miles. From Ticonderoga, go west on Route 74 for about 6 miles. Follow signs on Route 74 directing you to the campground; the road ends at the campground entrance.
