Rogers Rock Campground
Closed for the season. Operates annually from May 15 through September 7. Reservations available through ReserveAmerica.
Special Weather Statement issued May 3 at 3:18AM EDT by NWS Albany NY
The combination of drying fine fuels, northwest wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph, and relative humidity values between 25 and 35 percent will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread late this morning into this afternoon for the Mid-Hudson Valley, eastern Catskills, Taconics, Greater Capital District, and Lake George-Saratoga regions in eastern New York. As a reminder, the annual statewide burn ban remains in effect until May 14. No burn permits are issued. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources such as machinery or matches and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website for more information on burn restrictions.
About
Rogers Rock Campground sits on the northern end of Lake George in the Adirondacks, offering a popular base for families exploring the region. The facility was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and opened in 1947, named after Major Robert Rogers, an English Colonial fighter whose legendary escape down the nearby cliff during the French and Indian War became local folklore. The campground features 332 individual campsites plus 3 group camping areas that accommodate families and friend groups. A sandy beach with bathhouse provides supervised swimming areas, while the boat launch and mooring buoys serve all types of watercraft. Anglers can fish for northern pike, salmon, largemouth bass, yellow perch, lake trout, brown trout, and smallmouth bass. Less than 3.5 miles west, the Berrymill Pond trailhead provides access to the 46,000-acre Pharaoh Lake Wilderness trail system. The campground includes modern amenities such as flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, picnic areas with tables and fireplaces, pavilion rentals, and a recycling center. Nine ADA-accessible campsites are available, along with accessible shower buildings and beach access routes. The nearby villages of Hague and Ticonderoga offer restaurants, shopping, and historical sites including Fort Ticonderoga.
