Prineville Reservoir State Park showcases the scenic beauty of central Oregon's high desert, where mountain waters from the Ochoco Range form the Crooked River and create the 3,000-acre Prineville Reservoir behind Bowman Dam. The park's main campground overlooks the reservoir with 67 campsites: 23 with full hookups (electric, water, sewer), 22 with electric and water connections, and 22 tent sites with nearby water access. Five deluxe cabins provide furnished accommodations with full amenities. The park caters to both tent campers and RV enthusiasts, with some sites accommodating rigs up to 53 feet. Modern facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, and accessible sites designed for wheelchair users. On-site conveniences feature ice and firewood sales. The reservoir offers 43 miles of shoreline for boating, fishing, water skiing, and swimming. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound with eagles, mule deer, and Rocky Mountain elk frequenting the area. A second location, Jasper Point Campground, provides 27 first-come, first-served sites with electric and water hookups for those seeking a smaller, quieter camping experience. Reservations for the main campground open six months in advance and fill quickly, especially for summer weekends.

Directions

From Prineville, Oregon, head southeast on Highway 27 for approximately 14 miles. Turn left onto SE Parkland Drive and continue for about 3 miles to reach the park entrance.
