About

Double Cabin Campground sits in a remote location among the big pines near the heart of the Maury Mountains in Ochoco National Forest. This isolated, no-fee campground provides the perfect getaway from busy civilization for campers seeking solitude and a backcountry feel without extensive hiking. The campground is accessed via Forest Service Road 16 and FR 16-350, requiring travel on unpaved forest roads. While recreational activities directly from the campground are limited, Double Cabin Pond is just a short walk away, and Antelope Flat Reservoir is a short drive for fishing and boating opportunities. The surrounding ponderosa pine forest offers wildlife viewing and photography. Each campsite includes a picnic table, though amenities are minimal with vault toilets and no potable water available. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. The 14-day stay limit applies to all Ochoco National Forest campgrounds. Winter access may be limited due to snow on forest roads at this elevation, though the site has no official seasonal closure.

Directions

From Prineville, travel 32 miles southeast on Highway 380. Turn south onto Forest Service Road 16 and continue approximately 12 miles. Turn north onto Forest Service Road 16-350 and continue less than one mile to the campground.
