About

Wiley Flat Campground is a rustic, primitive campground located in the Maury Mountains of Ochoco National Forest. The campground surrounds Wiley Creek, a shallow, narrow body of water that ends at a small meadow within the perimeter of the camp. This peaceful setting is popular with horseback riders, and it's not uncommon to see guided groups stopping for a noon break. This is a no-fee campground that offers basic amenities including vault toilets, but no potable water is available on-site. Campers must bring their own water supply. The campground provides a true backcountry experience in the heart of the Maury Mountains, with opportunities for exploring the surrounding national forest. Access requires traveling Forest Service Road 16 for approximately 12 miles from Highway 380, then turning onto Forest Service Road 16-400 for the final approach to the campground. Standard 14-day stay limits apply to all Ochoco National Forest campgrounds.

Directions

From Prineville, take Highway 380 southeast toward Paulina for approximately 32 miles to the third bridge. Turn south onto Forest Service Road 16 and follow for approximately 12 miles to the Wiley Flat sign. Turn right onto Forest Service Road 16-400, stay left at the large ponderosa in the middle of the road, and continue less than 1/2 mile to the campground.
