About

White Rock Campground offers a true backcountry experience deep within the Ochoco National Forest's ponderosa pine ecosystem. Located on the southeast boundary of Mill Creek Wilderness, this primitive campground provides access to wilderness trails and nearby rockhounding opportunities at White Fir Springs agate beds. The remote setting ensures solitude, with few developed recreational facilities in the area. Access requires commitment: the final mile into the campground is a rough section of road where high-clearance 4WD vehicles are strongly recommended. The campground is walking distance from the Wildcat South Trailhead, making it an ideal base for wilderness exploration. As a primitive site, there are no amenities beyond vault toilets and basic campsites. The area provides opportunities for hiking, rockhounding, and experiencing the natural quiet of the forest. No motorized vehicles or bicycles are permitted in the adjacent Mill Creek Wilderness. The 14-day stay limit applies to all use on the Ochoco National Forest.

Directions

From Prineville, take Highway 26 east for approximately 19 miles, then turn left onto Forest Service Road 3350 (Wildcat Mountain Road). Continue for approximately 6 miles on FSR 3350 to the junction with FSR 300. Turn right and proceed up FSR 300 for approximately 2 miles to White Rock Campground. The final mile is rough and requires high-clearance 4WD vehicles.
