About
Porcupine Bay Campground is a popular destination for campers and boaters on the 130-mile Lake Roosevelt, created by Grand Coulee Dam along the Columbia River. The 20-site campground is nestled among ponderosa pines and shrubs on the Spokane Arm, offering a secluded feel with beautiful views of the lake. The campground provides paved roads and parking spaces, with seasonal flush toilets, vault toilets available year-round, a swim beach, boat launch, and fish cleaning station. Sites accommodate RVs and trailers with varying maximum vehicle lengths. A dump station and water fill station are available seasonally for a fee. The area is abundant with wildlife including moose, elk, deer, bighorn sheep, and excellent birding opportunities with peregrine falcons, blue herons, bald eagles, and osprey frequently spotted. Lake Roosevelt offers year-round fishing for walleye, bass, rainbow trout and salmon, though the bay does freeze in winter. The lake maintains comfortable summer temperatures despite originating from glaciers and snow in the Canadian Rockies. All sites are reservation-only year-round through Recreation.gov. Fort Spokane Visitor Center is located 10 miles north on Highway 25.
Directions
Take State Highway 2 west of Spokane for 32 miles. Turn north on State Highway 25 at the town of Davenport and travel 12 miles. Take a right on Porcupine Bay Rd. Follow the road about 7 miles to the campground.
