About

Hunters Campground is part of Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, a 130-mile reservoir on the Columbia River created by Grand Coulee Dam. The campground sits in a Ponderosa pine forest on the lake's northern shoreline, providing ample shade and a peaceful setting. Campsites are arranged in a centralized loop with an easy walk to the beach area. The facility includes a boat launch that operates year-round. The campground is particularly popular with hunters (hunting is permitted in certain park areas) and anglers. Lake Roosevelt supports excellent fishing for walleye, bass, rainbow trout, and salmon, with limited-season sturgeon fishing also available. The surrounding area is abundant with wildlife including moose, elk, deer, osprey, and bald eagles. Lake temperatures become pleasant for swimming during summer months, though waters originate from Canadian glacial and snowmelt sources. All 37 sites require reservations through Recreation.gov with no first-come, first-served availability. RVs and trailers up to 60 feet can be accommodated, though site-specific length limits vary. There are no hookups. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights per campground within a 30-day period, with a 60-night annual limit parkwide.
