About

Hunters Campground sits along the northern shoreline of Lake Roosevelt, a 130-mile lake on the Columbia River created by Grand Coulee Dam. Part of Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, this 37-site campground is nestled in a thick Ponderosa pine forest that provides ample shade and a serene camping environment. While there is no direct lake view from the campsites themselves, the campground offers easy walking access to both a year-round boat launch and beach area. The campground is especially popular among hunters, as hunting is permitted in certain areas of the park, and anglers who come for the excellent fishing opportunities. Lake Roosevelt is abundant with walleye, bass, rainbow trout, and salmon, with a limited season for sturgeon fishing now allowed. The lake's waters originate from glaciers and snowmelt from the Canadian Rockies, though summer temperatures are pleasant for swimming. Campsites are arranged in a centrally-located loop with paved roads and parking spaces, accommodating RVs and trailers up to 60 feet. The campground operates on a reservation-only basis and includes seasonal flush toilets and potable water during the operating season, with vault toilets available year-round. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with moose, elk, deer, osprey, and bald eagles commonly spotted in the area. Educational programs are offered seasonally for families and visitors.
