About

Jones Bay Campground sits in a striking desert landscape of bitter antelope brush and sage at the bottom of a ravine that opens into a beautiful bay on Lake Roosevelt. This small 9-site campground appeals to those seeking a more remote, primitive camping experience away from the larger developed areas of the recreation area. The campground is mostly gravel and packed dirt with sparse vegetation along the lake shore. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own drinking water. Trash services are limited; pack it in, pack it out. The campground has no hookups. Jones Bay can be reached by boat via its launch and dock, or by car via a 3-mile sandy, narrow road that may be difficult to locate. Fishing is excellent from the water or shore, with beautiful views up and down the lake. All sites are reservation-only through Recreation.gov; there is no cell service at the campground, so reservations must be made in advance.
