About

Gifford Campground sits along the northern shoreline of Lake Roosevelt, a 130-mile reservoir on the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. Almost every campsite offers sweeping views of the lake with direct shoreline access. The 42-site campground is situated in a thick ponderosa pine forest providing ample shade, with a boat launch, dock, dump station, and fish cleaning station. The campground is particularly popular among hunters and anglers. The lake is abundant with walleye, bass, rainbow trout, and salmon, with limited-season sturgeon fishing also allowed. Hunting is permitted in certain areas of the park. The boat launch remains open year-round for water access. The area is rich with wildlife including moose, elk, deer, osprey, and bald eagles. Families can enjoy educational programs, leisurely walks to the beach, and swimming during summer when lake temperatures are pleasant despite the glacial and snowmelt origins from the Canadian Rockies. The campground is conveniently located next to the Gifford Ferry, a free ferry operated by the Colville Confederated Tribes that crosses the river every 15 minutes. All sites are reservation-only through Recreation.gov.
