About

Point Campground is nestled along the shores of Elk Lake in Oregon's Deschutes National Forest. The campground provides direct access to the lake via an on-site boat launch, making it popular for fishing, swimming, water skiing, and windsurfing. Both motorized and non-motorized watercraft are permitted on Elk Lake. The surrounding area offers stunning views of Mt. Bachelor and South Sister from various vantage points along the shoreline. Wetlands, diverse forests, and rocky slopes near the campground provide habitat for shorebirds, porcupine, deer, bats, and occasional black bears. Visitors can explore nearby wilderness areas and hundreds of miles of trails for hiking and horseback riding. Newberry National Volcanic Monument is approximately 45 minutes away and features interpretive programs, exhibits, and Lava River Cave, the longest continuous lava tube in Oregon. The Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway climbs 66 miles through the Cascade Range past snow-capped peaks and alpine lakes.
