About
Lava Lake Campground is located along the Cascade Lakes National Scenic Byway in the heart of Central Oregon's Cascade Range. At 4,740 feet elevation, the campground sits on the eastern slopes of the Cascades, surrounded by mature lodgepole pine forests with bull rushes and lava outcroppings lining the lake's shores. The 44 sites include both standard nonelectric sites that accommodate small RVs and trailers, as well as designated tent-only sites. The campground provides direct access to Lava Lake via a day use area and boat ramp. Recreation opportunities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, and scenic driving. The Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway climbs from Central Oregon's high desert valley over a 66-mile drive weaving through snow-capped peaks and alongside alpine lakes. Nearby attractions include the Lava Lands Visitor Center in Bend, Newberry National Volcanic Monument, and extensive wilderness areas. The Deschutes National Forest offers approximately 1,600 miles of trails for exploration.
