About
Plum Lake Campground is located in the central portion of Northern Highland American Legion State Forest on the southwest corner of Plum Lake. The campground features 18 sites (numbered 1201-1218) in a traditional rustic setting with wider spacing between sites than modern campgrounds. The 1,108-acre lake offers good boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. The campground provides minimal facilities including one vault toilet building, one hand pump for drinking water, and separate trash and recycling dumpsters. A fishing pier and water access are located adjacent to the campground. Sites 1215-1217 form a double campsite that can accommodate up to 12 people and two-wheeled camping units. Sites 1208-1209 are walk-to tent-only sites where campers must hike a short distance from their cars to the campsite. All campsites at Plum Lake Campground are reservable through the Wisconsin State Park System, and reservations are required before setting up on any site. Reservations can be made for the same day of arrival or up to 11 months in advance. The campground operates seasonally from the Thursday before Memorial Day through Labor Day.
