About

North Muskellunge Group Campground occupies a forested site on the north shore of Big Muskellunge Lake in the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest near Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. The facility is designed for organized groups of up to 80 campers seeking a semi-primitive lakefront experience. Basic amenities include vault toilets and hand pumps providing potable water. The campground gates remain locked when unoccupied; registered campers proceed directly to the site upon arrival. A Wisconsin State Park and Forest vehicle admission sticker is required on all vehicles. Reservations are mandatory and can be made up to 11 months in advance through wisconsin.goingtocamp.com or by phone. Maximum stay is seven nights per visit (and seven nights within any 14-day period). Big Muskellunge Lake is known for quality fishing including musky, northern pike, walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, and panfish. The sheltered bay near the group camp provides good conditions for canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
