About
Nebish Lake Campground is a primitive camping destination within Wisconsin's Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. The two reservable boat-in sites sit on a quiet, motor-restricted research lake approximately three miles east of Highway M. Access is via Nebish Lake Road, directly across from the Trout Lake Forestry Headquarters. The sites are approximately 150 yards apart, each with a tent pad large enough for two small tents, a picnic table, and a fire ring. Open-air pit toilets serve the area. As an experimental research lake, Nebish Lake requires all anglers to register at the fish checking station at the Escanaba Lake boat landing before and after each fishing day. The motor restriction and distance from paved roads make these sites particularly quiet and isolated. Campers must pack out all trash and bring their own drinking water, as no potable water is available. Maximum stay is 14 nights, with up to 6 people per site.
Directions
From Highway M, turn onto Nebish Lake Road directly across from the Trout Lake Forestry Headquarters. Follow to the boat landing and paddle to the campsites.
