About
Musky Lake Campground sits on the southeast corner of Big Muskellunge Lake within the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest in Vilas County. The 846-acre lake offers exceptionally clear water ideal for boating and fishing. The campground provides 82 sites (numbered 301-382), including three double sites that accommodate up to 12 people and two wheeled camping units. Facilities include three vault toilet buildings, one flush toilet building with showers, three hand pumps for drinking water, a boat launch, and separate trash and recycling dumpsters. A sanitary dump station is located near the Crystal Lake Visitor Station entrance. The nearby Crystal Lake Picnic Area offers a sandy swimming beach. Site 318 and three toilet buildings are ADA-accessible. The campground operates seasonally from the Thursday before Memorial Day through October 1. All sites require reservations through the Wisconsin State Parks online system. No electrical hookups are available. Pets are welcome on leashes up to 8 feet.
