About

Musky Lake Campground is located on the southeast corner of Big Muskellunge Lake in the central portion of Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. The campground offers 82 modern campsites (sites 301-382), all available by reservation only. Amenities include one flush toilet building with showers, three vault toilet buildings, three hand pumps for drinking water, and separate trash and recycling dumpsters. A boat launch provides direct access to Big Muskellunge Lake for fishing and boating. The campground is adjacent to Crystal Lake Campground and shares access to the Crystal Lake Visitor Station area, which includes a sanitary dump station. A sandy swimming beach is available nearby at the Crystal Lake Picnic Area. The facility provides access to paved bike trails connecting to other campgrounds and nearby communities including Boulder Junction and St. Germain. Double campsites accommodate up to 12 people and two camping units. Site 318 is ADA-accessible. Campers can stay up to 14 consecutive nights per visit. The campground operates seasonally from late April through early November, with the forest offering over 236,000 acres and more than 900 lakes for outdoor recreation. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance and are required before setting up at any site.

From the intersection of Highways 51 and 47, travel north on Highway 51 for 6.2 miles to County Highway M. Turn right on County Highway M and go 2.7 miles to County Highway N. Turn right on County Highway N and go 2 miles. The Crystal Lake Contact Station is on the left.
