About
Located in the central portion of the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest, Firefly Lake Campground provides 71 reservable campsites on the north side of a pristine 27-acre lake. The lake's clear water and fine sand beach make it an excellent swimming destination, though no motorized boats are permitted. The campground features a mix of modern and rustic amenities with one flush toilet building with showers, five vault toilet buildings, five hand-pumped water stations, and separate trash and recycling dumpsters. A carry-in boat landing provides access to the lake. Double campsites accommodate up to 12 people and two camping units. Two ADA-accessible sites with electricity are available. The campground is connected to the Crystal Lake Picnic Area, located about half a mile away, by a paved bike trail that extends to Boulder Junction and past St. Germain. The campground is part of a network of modern campgrounds in the forest that share similar amenities but no electrical hookups at standard sites. An RV dump station is available across the highway at Crystal Lake Campground, free for registered campers at any NHAL campground.
Directions
From Boulder Junction, head south on County Highway M for approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto County Highway N and continue for about 2 miles; the campground entrance will be on your right.
