Firefly Lake Campground sits on the north shore of a crystal-clear 27-acre lake in the heart of Wisconsin's Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. The 71 sites (numbered 201-271) are well-spaced among mature trees, offering privacy and shade. While there are no electric hookups, generators are permitted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Most sites are spacious with flat, level spurs suitable for RVs and trailers, though all sites are back-in only. The campground features a centrally located shower building with heated showers, flush toilets, and accessible restrooms with running water. Five vault toilet buildings and five hand pump wells are distributed throughout the campground. An electric well provides drinking water near the shower building. Separate trash and recycling dumpsters are available, and an RV dump station is located across the highway at Crystal Lake Campground, free for all registered forest campers. The lake is ideal for swimming, with its clear water and natural sand beach. Motorized boats are prohibited, keeping the waters peaceful for paddlers and swimmers. The Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail connects directly to the campground entrance, offering access to over 52 miles of paved trails. Crystal Lake Picnic Area is just half a mile away via the bike trail.

Directions

From Boulder Junction, head south on County Highway M for approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto County Highway N and continue for about 2 miles; the campground entrance will be on your right.
