About

Pintler Campground is a small, free developed campground situated on the shores of Pintler Lake in the Pintler Creek drainage at 6,300 feet elevation. Managed by the Wisdom Ranger District of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, this primitive campground offers 3 camping units, picnic tables, and an ADA-accessible vault toilet. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own water supply. The campground features a primitive boat ramp for lake access and offers stream and lake fishing opportunities. The maximum recommended trailer length is 20 feet due to the narrow Forest Road 185 access. There is no cell phone coverage in the area. Nearby trails provide access to the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, which covers nearly 250 square miles along the Continental Divide and the crest of the Anaconda Range. The area is popular for backcountry hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing.

Directions

From Wise River, take Highway 43 West for approximately 30 miles. Turn on Forest Road 185 and continue north for 12 miles.
