About
Copper Creek Campground occupies 2 acres of partially shaded terrain along Copper Creek in the Pintler Ranger District of Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. At 5,500 feet elevation, the eight campsites loop around a small open meadow with views of nearby peaks. The campground serves as a convenient basecamp for exploring the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, with five trailheads accessible within a seven-mile drive. Middle Fork Rock Creek flows less than half a mile from camp, offering quality fishing for cutthroat, brown, and brook trout, as well as whitefish. Bull trout are present but catch-and-release only. Moose Lake Picnic Area, 1.5 miles away, provides additional day-use opportunities including swimming and car-top boating. The Skalkaho Highway scenic drive and Skalkaho Falls in the Bitterroot National Forest are about 30 miles away. Both grizzly and black bears are prevalent in the area; a forest-wide food storage order is in effect. Bear-resistant storage lockers are available at the campground. The maximum trailer length is 22 feet, and stays are limited to 16 days within any 30-day period.
