About

Steel Creek Campground is a small, quiet campground located in the West Pioneer Mountains of southwestern Montana, within the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The 7 campsites are nestled among lodgepole pine and Douglas fir trees with Steel Creek meandering through the campground, providing direct fishing access for trout anglers. At 6,200 feet elevation, the campground offers a peaceful mountain setting with opportunities for day hiking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing. Horse and pack animal camping is permitted. The campground features ADA-accessible vault toilets, potable water from a hand pump, and picnic tables at each site. Access is via Steel Creek Road, a 9-mile drive east from Highway 43 just north of Wisdom. The road and campground can accommodate trailers up to 22 feet. This is a pack-it-out campground with no garbage service, so campers must haul out all trash.

Directions

From Wisdom, go north for 1/4 mile to Steel Creek Road and continue east for 9 miles to the campground.
