Steel Creek Campground sits at 6,200 feet elevation in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, located in a serene stand of lodgepole pine and Douglas fir along Steel Creek. This small, rustic campground features 7 campsites with a maximum recommended trailer length of 22 feet. The campground provides basic amenities including ADA-accessible vault toilets, drinking water available from a hand pump, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site. The campground is particularly appealing to anglers looking to fish Steel Creek, as well as horseback riders and equestrian campers. Horse and pack animals are permitted throughout the area. Visitors can enjoy day hikes into the surrounding West Pioneer Wilderness Study Area, observe wildlife, and take in the scenic mountain views. The remote setting offers a peaceful camping experience away from crowds. Located about 9 miles east of Wisdom, Montana, Steel Creek Campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations available. Campers should note there is no garbage service, so all trash must be packed out. The site charges $15 per night with an additional $5 fee for extra vehicles.

From Wisdom, Montana, go north for 1/4 mile to Steel Creek Road and continue east for 9 miles to the campground.
