About

Lower Canyon Creek Campground is one of several campgrounds along the scenic Metolius River corridor in the Deschutes National Forest. Located at the confluence of Canyon Creek and the upper Metolius River, this small campground offers easy access to some of the best fly-fishing in central Oregon. The crystal-clear, spring-fed Metolius supports rainbow trout, whitefish, bull trout, and kokanee salmon. The campground has 5 standard nonelectric sites suitable for tents, trailers, or RVs up to 40 feet. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets are provided but potable water is not available, so campers must bring their own supply. Generator use is prohibited between 10 PM and 7 AM. Nearby attractions include the Camp Sherman Fish Viewing Platform, Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery, and the Metolius-Windigo Trail. The area also provides access to the Newberry National Volcanic Monument and Lava River Cave.
