About

Paradise Campground lives up to its name, tucked within a lush old-growth forest of Douglas fir and western red cedar on the banks of the McKenzie River in Willamette National Forest. Originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the campground retains its historic character while providing modern amenities including flush toilets dispersed throughout and paved parking spurs. The campground's 64 sites are spread across two loops, with many sites offering direct river views and others nestled into the scenic forest understory where ferns and mosses drape the trees. A boat ramp provides direct access to the McKenzie River's renowned whitewater, popular with rafters and kayakers. Catch-and-release trout and steelhead fishing draws anglers year-round. The McKenzie River National Recreation Trail, a favorite among hikers and mountain bikers, begins nearby. An amphitheater hosts educational programs during the season. A golf course is located approximately 7 miles west of the campground.
