About

Panguitch Lake Campground occupies a scenic hillside above the lake at 8,400 feet on the Colorado Plateau. The north side offers 50 reservable sites including singles, doubles, and three group sites, while the south side has 18 tent-only first-come first-served sites. Deer and elk frequent the ponderosa pine forest surrounding the campground. The lake provides year-round fishing opportunities for rainbow, brook, cutthroat, and brown trout, with some of Utah's largest rainbow trout caught here annually. Canoeing and kayaking are popular, with boat ramps on both the south shore and at Wildlife Point on the north shore. The Markagunt OHV trail system offers extensive riding opportunities, though ATVs and OHVs are prohibited within the campground itself and cannot be trailered in. Nearby attractions include Cedar Breaks National Monument (14 miles), featuring guided tours, wildflower walks, and views of the Cedar Breaks Amphitheater. The Ashdown Gorge Wilderness Area offers 10 miles of trails and the Twisted Forest of ancient bristlecone pines. Bryce Canyon National Park is 30 minutes away.
