About

Mammoth Designated Dispersed Camping Area is located in the Cedar City Ranger District of Dixie National Forest in Garfield County, Utah. This area provides free primitive camping opportunities for those seeking a more remote, undeveloped experience away from established campgrounds. As a designated dispersed site, camping is permitted at marked locations rather than anywhere throughout the forest. The area has no developed amenities. There are no restrooms, potable water, picnic tables, or fire rings provided. Campers must bring all their own water and supplies, and pack out all trash and food waste. Campfires are permitted when no fire restrictions are in effect, though campers should check current conditions as fire danger can be high during summer months. Standard Dixie National Forest dispersed camping rules apply: a maximum 16-day stay limit before relocating at least 10 miles, camping at least 300 feet from streams and water sources, and motorized vehicle access limited to 150 feet from designated routes. Groups of 75 or more require a free special use permit from the Forest Service.
