About
Cedar Canyon Campground occupies a scenic location on the western edge of the Colorado Plateau within Dixie National Forest. At 8,100 feet elevation, the campground is shaded by fir and aspen trees with Crow Creek flowing alongside. The developed campground features 19 sites total: 13 individual campsites, 4 double sites suitable for larger groups, and 1 designated group site. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with paved roads and spurs throughout. The campground's location makes it an excellent base for exploring southern Utah's high country. Cedar Breaks National Monument is just 8 miles away, offering hiking trails, ranger-guided programs, and dramatic amphitheater views. Other nearby attractions include Ashdown Gorge Wilderness, Navajo Lake, Duck Lake, and the 34-mile Virgin River Rim Trail. The Markagunt ATV Trail System is accessible for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts, though OHVs must be trailered within the campground itself. Facilities include vault toilets and garbage disposal. The campground operates on a combination of reservations through Recreation.gov and first-come, first-served availability. Standard quiet hours are 10 PM to 6 AM with no generators permitted during this time. Maximum stay is 14 days, and dogs are welcome but must remain leashed.
Directions
From Cedar City, Utah, take Highway 14 east for approximately 11 miles. The campground is on the left (north) side of the highway, just below the S-curve.
