Oak Flat Campground/Gravel Bar

Open

Open for camping on a first-come, first-served basis. No potable water available; campers must bring their own water supply and pack out all trash. Maximum stay is 14 days.

About

Oak Flat Campground sits on a scenic gravel bar along the Wild and Scenic Illinois River in Oregon's Curry County. The 15 campsites are primitive but each comes equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water, no trash service, and no campground host. The campground is best suited for tents and small trailers. The location serves as the Illinois River West Trailhead, providing direct access to the Illinois River National Recreation Trail. This trail is considered one of the finest hikes in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, winding through old-growth forests and steep river canyons with outstanding wildflower displays in spring. A horse corral is available for equestrian users. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day maximum stay. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Dogs must remain on leash, campfires are permitted only in developed fire pits, and OHV/ATV use is prohibited within the campground.
