* WHAT...Moderate risk of sneaker waves expected. * WHERE...Beaches of Douglas, Coos and Curry Counties. * WHEN...From late Monday evening through early Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and sweep them into the ocean. The waves can also move logs or other objects which could crush or trap anyone caught underneath. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While sneaker waves can occur at any time, the greatest risk is on an incoming tide. Please be aware of the tides if venturing out onto the beaches. Located on the shores of Rock Creek, a tributary of the South Fork Coquille River, this small campground is the perfect place to take shelter under the trees and listen to the sounds of the creek. Rock Creek Campground offers 7 tent-only campsites in a peaceful forest setting, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. The campground provides vault toilet facilities and garbage disposal during the operating season, though no drinking water is available on-site. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the area's natural attractions. Visitors can take a quick drive to the Coquille Falls trailhead and other scenic spots along the Coquille River. The creek offers opportunities for fishing and enjoying the tranquil sounds of flowing water. The remote location provides a moderate-use experience for those seeking to escape into the forest. Access requires traveling 18 miles south from Powers on Forest Road 33, then turning right on Forest Road 3347 for one mile. The campground operates with a 14-day maximum stay limit and enforces quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
