About
Wildhorse Meadow Dispersed Camping provides a remote backcountry experience in the mountainous terrain of the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. This lightly used site offers exceptional solitude with scenic views and access to excellent stargazing on clear summer nights. High mountain breezes provide natural cooling during warm summer days. The camping area includes 3 designated dispersed campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. A pit toilet is available on-site, but campers must be self-sufficient as there is no drinking water, garbage service, or campground host. All trash must be packed out. The location provides access to day hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Access requires traveling approximately 48 miles from Gold Beach on a combination of county and forest roads, including 12 miles on Forest Road 3318. The remote location and forest road access make this site best suited for summer and early fall visits, with winter access typically restricted by snow at higher elevations.
