About
Foster Bar Campground occupies a historic location on the edge of a large meadow adjacent to the Wild and Scenic Rogue River in the Gold Beach Ranger District. This small campground features 8 sites, with 4 designated for tents only and 4 that can accommodate either tents or trailers. The campground sits at the take-out point for rafters navigating this section of river, which is internationally renowned for its fishing opportunities. The site marks an important chapter in Oregon history as the location of the last battle fought during the Rogue River Indian Wars. Today, the campground serves anglers, rafters, and hikers exploring the lower Rogue River corridor. The Lower Rogue River Trail provides access to excellent fishing spots along the river. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit, and the campground maintains flush toilets and a campground host during the operating season. Foster Bar is located approximately 28 miles northeast of Gold Beach in a remote section of Curry County, requiring travel on narrow forest roads. The facility includes a boat ramp and serves as a critical access point for those exploring the Wild Rogue Wilderness area.
