About

Illahee Camping Area lies within the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest in Curry County, Oregon, along the Lower Rogue Wild and Scenic River. The remote location is accessed via a winding 33-mile drive from Gold Beach on County Road 375 (Agness-Illahe Road). Historically, the campground served as a base for hikers on the Rogue River National Recreation Trail and anglers targeting Chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead, and cutthroat trout. The campground is currently closed and in a state of disrepair. When operational, it featured vault toilets and seasonal drinking water available from May through September, with camp hosts staffing the facility during that period. The site is surrounded by forested terrain within the Wild Rogue Wilderness corridor. Nearby Foster Bar remains accessible and provides an alternative trailhead with parking for those looking to hike the Rogue River Trail. The area sees significant variation in weather, with temperatures ranging from around 30°F in winter to 85°F in summer.

Directions

From Gold Beach, OR, take the road on the south side of the Rogue River just before the bridge (Forest Route 33/County Road 375) east approximately 33 miles through Agness to Illahe. The campground is located about 2.5 miles past Foster Bar.
