About
Gansner Bar Campground occupies a scenic location along the North Fork of the Feather River in Plumas National Forest, 32 miles west of Quincy on Highway 70. The campground sits at 2,300 feet elevation in the Feather River Canyon, an area characterized by deep canyons, mountain streams, and forested slopes. Despite heavy burn damage in the area, the campground remains operational and retains its historic character after recent upgrades. The campground offers 17 single-family sites suitable for both tent and RV camping, though hookups are not available. Each site includes a fire ring with grill, picnic table, and bear-proof food storage box. Flush toilets are provided on-site. Bears frequent the area, so proper food storage is mandatory. Cell phone service is unreliable throughout the canyon. Anglers enjoy healthy rainbow trout populations in the nearby Feather River, which is within walking distance. The river and Gansner Bar are popular for swimming and wading when water levels permit. Late summer visitors can pick blackberries along the riverbanks. A dump station is available at nearby North Fork Campground. The 14-day annual camping limit per ranger district applies.
