About
Jacob Lake Campground occupies a prime location at the intersection of US 89A and AZ 67, making it the natural staging point for visits to the Grand Canyon's quieter North Rim, just 44 miles south. At 7,920 feet elevation on the Kaibab Plateau, the campground offers relief from desert heat and sits within a classic Ponderosa pine forest ecosystem. The campground provides 49 standard single-family sites plus two group sites that can accommodate up to 100 people each. All sites feature fire rings and picnic tables, with vault toilets and potable water available throughout. There are no hookups, showers, or dump stations. A pleasant one-mile loop trail begins right at the campground, and the Kaibab Plateau section of the Arizona Trail is nearby for more ambitious day hikes or overnight trips. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov for the primary season, with first-come, first-served availability beginning in mid-September. The campground is operated by Recreation Resource Management of America on behalf of the Forest Service. Pets are welcome on leash. The 14-day stay limit applies.
