About

Indian Hollow Campground is a remote, primitive facility on the North Kaibab Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest. Located at the end of Forest Road 232, the campground provides access to one of the most spectacular backcountry routes into the Grand Canyon via Thunder River Trail #23. The trail leads to Thunder River, the world's shortest river, and continues to Tapeats Creek and Deer Creek Falls. The campground has only three sites and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no fee. Facilities are minimal: a vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water. Campers must bring all water and pack out all trash. The small sites and rough access road make this campground unsuitable for large RVs or large groups. Access requires driving State Route 67 south from Jacob Lake, then taking Forest Road 232 west to the campground. SR 67 closes seasonally for winter, typically from early December through mid-May, making Indian Hollow inaccessible during that period.

Directions

From Jacob Lake, drive south on State Route 67 for approximately 26 miles. Turn right (west) onto Forest Road 232 and follow it to the end at Indian Hollow Campground. FR 232 is a rough dirt road not suitable for low-clearance vehicles.
