About
White House Campground is a remote BLM campground situated within Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, approximately 43 miles east of Kanab, Utah. Located two miles south of Highway 89 and the Paria Contact Station at the end of Monument Road 751, the campground occupies a scenic valley surrounded by distinctive white-grey sandstone buttes near the Paria River. The campground offers 12 sites: 7 car camping sites with parking and 5 walk-in tent camping sites. Each site includes a fire ring with grill, picnic table, and tent pad. Vault toilets are available on-site, including an accessible double vault unit. Water and trash disposal are located at the Paria Contact Station at the northern end of the road, not at the campground itself. Originally constructed in the 1970s and reconstructed from 2017-2019, White House Campground primarily serves as a staging area for visitors exploring the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. Day use and overnight permits for the wilderness area must be obtained separately through Recreation.gov and BLM.
