January 17th, 5:41 PM — January 20th, 12:00 PM

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory...in effect until noon PST Tuesday. Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels. Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather. People at risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant people. People can take the following precautions to protect their health: - Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality. - Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during periods of poor air quality. - People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while smoke levels are high. - Use certified High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in indoor heating, ventilation, cooling and air purification systems. - Avoid using wood-burning stoves and other sources of indoor smoke if possible. About

Goose Lake State Recreation Area is a peaceful lakeside destination on the Oregon-California border, situated along the banks of Goose Lake, a large seasonal lakebed that typically holds water in spring. The campground features 48 electrical sites with water hookups spread throughout a shaded, grassy setting that provides a cool oasis in this remote corner of Lake County. The park is renowned for wildlife viewing, particularly a large herd of mule deer that regularly spend time in the campground. Birdwatchers will find excellent opportunities to spot numerous species, including bald eagles, loggerhead shrikes, greater sage grouse, and migratory waterfowl that rest at the lake during spring migration when water levels are highest. The park's grassy expanses and proximity to the lakebed make it an ideal location for observing wildlife in their natural habitat. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis only with no advance reservations accepted. Facilities include flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. A fenced pet recreation area is available in the day-use area. The campground is located 14 miles south of Lakeview off US Highway 395, providing a quiet retreat for those exploring southern Oregon's high desert country.
