About
Mountain Home Guard Station is a rustic cabin rental in the Sequoia National Monument portion of Sequoia National Forest. Built in the early 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the cabin originally served as a residence for Forest Service fire patrolmen stationed in the area. The structure retains its historic character with original kitchen cabinets, wood floors, and redwood board exterior.
The cabin accommodates up to 6 people with 5 beds and includes a full indoor bathroom with flush toilet, sink, and tub/shower. The kitchen is equipped with propane-powered stove, refrigerator, and water heater, plus dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. There is no electricity, so guests must bring battery or propane-powered lanterns for lighting.
Situated at 6,000 feet elevation among firs, pines, and giant sequoias, the cabin offers access to numerous recreational opportunities including hiking, fishing in the Tule River and local ponds, mountain biking, hunting, and horseback riding from nearby Balch Park Pack Station. The nearest store is approximately one hour away in Springville, so guests should plan accordingly.
