About
White River Campground sits in a peaceful grove of mature incense cedars along the banks of the White River in Sequoia National Forest's Giant Sequoia National Monument. At 4,000 feet elevation, the campground offers a secluded retreat approximately 8 miles from the popular California Hot Springs. This is a remote, tent-only facility set back from the road, providing a quiet camping experience. The river narrows to creek-width near the campground, making it ideal for wading and fishing. Hiking opportunities abound in the surrounding forest, and nearby attractions include sequoia groves and the Giant Sequoia Mercantile for supplies. The campground is operated by Sequoia Recreation, a division of California Land Management. Sites accommodate up to six people and include campfire rings. Campers should be prepared for bear country with proper food storage in approved containers.
Directions
From Highway 99, turn east onto J22. Proceed through California Hot Springs to the T-intersection. Turn right at intersection M56 through Pine Flat. Continue 3 miles on the gravel road and turn directly across the bridge. The entrance is a quarter-mile past the bridge on the right.
