About

Wishon Campground is nestled along two forks of the Tule River in the Sequoia National Forest within the Giant Sequoia National Monument. At an elevation of 4,000 feet, the campground provides a scenic setting where a creek flows through the site into the Tule River, which originates in the Golden Trout Wilderness. The campground is configured in three sections: the Front Entrance section (sites 2-9), the Main Loop (sites 11-33), and the Doubles Spur (sites 34-36), offering a total of 29 single sites and 4 double sites. The area is excellent for fishing along the Tule River drainage, with opportunities available throughout the open season. Hikers can access the Doyle Springs Trail leading to Mt. Home State Forest directly from the campground, and a self-guided nature trail provides an easy introduction to the local ecosystem. Visitors can wade in the river at Wishon Fork when conditions permit. The surrounding area contains six small remnant giant sequoia groves, including Wishon, Silver Creek, Burro, Maggie Mountain, Middle Tule, and Upper Tule Groves. Campers should be aware this is bear country and must use proper food storage techniques. Some sites can accommodate RVs up to 24 feet in length. The campground provides vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and BBQ grills at each site, with five bear boxes located at specific sites. All reservations are managed through Recreation.gov, and the campground is operated by ExplorUs Hospitality Management.
