About

Leavis Flat Campground sits at 3,000 feet elevation in the Western Divide Ranger District of Giant Sequoia National Monument. This small, primitive campground with 9 sites is operated by volunteers from the Giant Sequoia National Monument Association. The low elevation and southern location make it accessible earlier in the season than higher-elevation campgrounds in the monument. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets and picnic tables. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. River and stream fishing is available nearby. Campfire permits are required for campfires, barbecues, and camp stoves, available at the ranger station or online. Sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations. The nightly fee is $16 per single site, payable by cash or check only. Maximum RV length is 16 feet. Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Bear activity has been noted in this area, and visitors should use bear-resistant food storage canisters.

Directions

Leavis Flat Campground is located along Hot Springs Drive (Highway 190) in California Hot Springs, CA. From Bakersfield, take Highway 65 north to Ducor, then turn right onto Avenue 56 (Hot Springs Drive) and continue east for approximately 30 miles. The campground is situated about 0.4 miles below the California Hot Springs Resort.
