About

Atkisson Group Camp sits in a pleasant forested setting near Mt. Adams, Washington's second-tallest peak. The single group site accommodates up to 50 campers and 20 vehicles, making it ideal for large gatherings, scout troops, or family reunions. A 99-foot paved driveway provides ample space for RVs, and the site includes a covered common shelter with a wood-burning stove, vault toilet, fire ring, and picnic table. The campground serves as a base for exploring the Mount Adams area. Nearby attractions include the Ice Caves, Natural Bridges lava formations, and Goose Lake. The surrounding terrain features unused spur roads suitable for hiking and mountain biking, and early-season huckleberry fields are accessible during berry season. The town of Trout Lake, about 5 miles away, offers restaurants and basic shopping. During winter months, the site converts to Atkisson Sno-Park, offering 16 kilometers of marked ski and snowshoe trails plus 154 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. The shelter's wood stove provides a warming area for winter recreationists.
