About

Trout Lake Creek Campground is a small, scenic lower-elevation campground tucked along the banks of Trout Lake Creek in Washington's Gifford Pinchot National Forest. With only 2 designated sites, it offers a quiet, secluded experience for tent campers seeking solitude. Some sites are positioned directly on the creek banks, providing pleasant ambient sounds and creek access. A short, easy trail leads from the campground to a more remote backcountry campsite for those wanting additional isolation. The campground is approximately 4 miles from the challenging and popular Sleeping Beauty hike, which offers panoramic views of Mt. Adams and the surrounding Cascade peaks. The access road (Forest Road 8810-010) is rough and unmaintained, making this campground unsuitable for trailers, RVs, or motorhomes. High-clearance vehicles are recommended. Amenities are minimal: a vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water. Campers must bring all drinking water and be prepared for a primitive, self-sufficient experience.

Directions

From Trout Lake, Washington, travel west for over a mile on State Highway 141 to Trout Lake Creek Road. Turn right onto Trout Lake Creek Road. At the forest boundary, this road becomes Forest Road 88. Take Forest Road 88 north about one mile to Forest Road 8810. Turn right at the signed intersection and continue down to the bottom of the hill. Cross the bridge and turn right onto the spur road (Forest Road 8810-010) and drive to the campground.
